God has a sense of humor

The past couple of days’ posts have been a little heavy. So here’s a story to lighten things up and hopefully make you smile.

Sometimes the Lord really speaks to you in church. Sometimes he even speaks to you through your five year old child.

For some reason, Lillian refused to go to her children’s room during church, which is very unusual for her. I gave her some paper and pen to write on during church to try to keep her quiet.  She’d drawn her hearts and flowers and all the girly swirlies like she normally does, then Dixie got my attention about halfway through the sermon and pointed at Lillian’s paper. She can write a few words like her name and a few other names but that is it. So imagine my surprise as I saw she had written in all capital letters “LIFETIME.”

I couldn’t believe it! This was so unusual for her and definitely beyond any words she had learned or practiced! Dixie and I immediately started looking at the screen with the sermon notes and around the room and we couldn’t see anything with that word on it. I said “Lillian, you wrote this by yourself?! Where did you learn that word?!” She just smiled and shrugged. I thought God, you are trying to speak to us! What prophecy are you trying to convey through my 5 year old child?! What are you trying to tell us about a lifetime?

Finally, my eyes landed on the back of the chairs in front of us… LIFETIME brand.

Sometimes God speaks to you through your children. And sometimes children copy down random words when they’re bored.
