He Is Worthy
I know what it’s like. I’ve been there. I’ve been in church listening to the praise and worship and wanting to raise my hands and sing out my praise when it hits me… Thoughts like what would people think if they saw me praising if they knew how I’d behaved? What would my husband and children think knowing how ill I’d been trying to get the family ready and to church on time? How can I take part in praising God when I feel so unworthy?
If you’ve ever felt that way, let me tell you what God reminded me. I do not praise Him because I am worthy. I praise Him because He is worthy.
Don’t let your insecurities about yourself keep you out of church. Churches are made for the sick to get well. Don’t let your judgements of the people in the church keep you away. None of us are perfect; that’s why we need a perfect God. Find a church who praises Jesus as King, and let me remind you of just ONE of countless reasons to praise Him:
“To be worthy of the infinite worth of Jesus is to see and savor Him as infinitely worthy.” Our worth is not found in our merits; our worth is bestowed upon us by a God who sees us as His masterpiece and His children. God sees His children as worthy because of the redeeming work of Jesus. And that is something to praise Him for!
So if you’re feeling insecure in praising Him today, remember how He sees you… as worthy to be called His own. Praise Him because He is worthy. Praise Him because HE makes you worthy.
