When someone reads my writings

I read a post from a well-known author the other night. I saw a mutual friend had commented, “I love this!” So I clicked on it.

And I loved it too. It made me smile. It made me laugh. It warmed my heart. It was so clever.

After I read it, I looked to see the reactions. Thousands of likes, hundreds of comments and shares.

And I thought, man, I long for a day when that many people want to read and are so moved by my words…

Then I thought, well, I bet God has felt that same way.

I was quickly brought back to reality.

To keep the main goal the main goal.

My words are simply, well… written by me.

God’s Word is filled with the breath of life, power, wisdom, direction, the history of our faith, stories of miracles, and the promise of an eternal, perfect future.

If someone read every word I ever wrote, they could never be impacted as powerfully as from reading just one verse of the Bible.

But if my words can inspire people to read God’s Word, then that’s all the success I need from this writing venture.

Maybe it will be hundreds of people one day, maybe thousands, but even if it’s just one person who turns to the Bible, turns the pages, and turns their heart to God, then I’m thankful I typed the words. I’m grateful God gave them to me. And I trust Him to put them in front of the right reader. In the right time. For the right purpose.

It humbles my heart when people take the time to read my writings.

I can only imagine what it does to God’s heart when we read His.
